Wound Care

- Wounds remain covered until your first post-op visit with your surgeon.
- Ice pack to the wound can provide comfort.
- After the dressing is removed you may shower and get the wound wet with soap and water. Sponge it dry and avoid trauma. Leave dressing off.
- Do not put peroxide, alcohol, iodine, alovera, vitamin E or other medication on the wound. These do not help healing and may irritate or burn the wound.
- Be patient about the appearance of your scar. Scar maturation is a process that takes six months. This is the time it takes a scar to fade and soften and this is when the scar will look its best. Most scars will be nearly invisible by this time.
