Wounds remain covered until your first post-op visit
with your surgeon.
Ice pack to the wound can provide comfort.
After the dressing is removed you may shower and get the
wound wet with soap and water. Sponge it dry and avoid
trauma. Leave dressing off.
Do not put peroxide, alcohol, iodine, alovera, vitamin E
or other medication on the wound. These do not help healing
and may irritate or burn the wound.
Be patient about the appearance of your scar. Scar
maturation is a process that takes six months. This is the
time it takes a scar to fade and soften and this is when
the scar will look its best. Most scars will be nearly
invisible by this time.
