Subject: My own personal account of my experience with "No
Insurance Surgery"
To whom it may concern, I write this "Testimonial " if
you will, as I am sure that you (like me) have a problem with a
Hernia of some description and are looking for a Doctor that you
can feel comfortable and safe with and to this end I have chosen
to write the following.
My name is Donald, I am 51 and I reside in San Clemente,
California. I have just completed my 4 week recovery time and
feel that it is now right and fair that I can give my opinion
regarding Dr Petersen and his company known as "No insurance
Surgery". I had a lower inguinal hernia, a very common
complaint I have come to learn, and this was operated upon on
December 19th 2011 at their facility in West Las Vegas.
I am happy to tell you that I have no complaints what-so-ever
regarding Dr Petersen, his staff and his method of correcting
this kind of problem. The company carried out my case exactly as
they said they would with no alterations or surprises at all.
The fee they told me was exactly what I paid with no clever 'add
on's' in any way. The procedure went as they said, and on time
as I was told. The after effects of the operation were exactly
as Dr. Petersen said they would be and my 4 week recovery time
was also as predicted. I cannot tell you regarding the pain
level you can expect to feel as we all feel pain in different
ways and at different personal levels, all I can say is that for
me it was negligible and the discomfort minimal.
If you are looking for someone to take care of this annoying
problem I will certainly recommend this man and his team. He
will listen to you, answer all of your questions and give you
the time you need without pressure to accomplish all you feel
you need to know. His staff will help you in anyway they can and
are always there for you throughout both the procedure and
recovery time to answer all your inquiries to make you feel
quite assured.
Should you have to travel some distance it is quite worth it
in many ways and as I said earlier, the quote he will give you
for his fee's will be what you will pay, there will be no hidden
"extra's".
I will personally recommend Dr. Petersen to you should you
wish to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Donald S Day

- Dr. Petersen,
This is a copy of the note I submitted to Angie’s list regarding my excellent experience.
My concern upon discovering my obvious inguinal hernia was to find the best possible Dr. to fix it. I did not want future negative repercussions; I wanted it fixed right one time, enabling me to go on with my life. So the search was on, to find a Dr. who had done thousands consistently, minimizing the possibility of negative results.
In the process I found out that it is not uncommon for some doctors to use mesh, and experience a high degree of unpredictable horrible results. Further I learned that some of those who experienced these negative results were active in educating the public about the undisclosed dangers of mesh.
One of the Doctors speaking at such an Ethics conference dealing with this issue was Dr. Kevin Petersen, of Las Vegas, Nevada. It seemed he had done thousands, and was a rare Dr. actually willing and able to help people with previous surgeries that had gone wrong. That’s the kind of Dr. I was looking for, skilled, aware, cautious and effective.
It has now been a week since Dr. Petersen completed my surgery. Everything has gone better than expected. Everything you hear about the office professionalism and kind caring demeanor is absolutely true. The preceding personal conference call with Dr. Petersen and video explanations of procedures initiate a comfortable relationship. By the time you get to the office for the initial exam, you feel you know and trust them.
The professionalism continued through out including the Medical District Surgery Center where facilities and personnel were absolutely top notch, to the anesthesiologist who was as kind, caring, alert, and attentive as I have ever seen. Follow-up was timely the afternoon of the surgery and the morning after. My flight back home was uneventful, and my recovery as been smooth and steady. I was walking my dog virtually immediately, but cautiously, and have now removed the bandages and have experienced no bruising, excessive swelling, or pain.
Thank you Dr. Petersen, I am back to my old self already. (Please note his name is spelled with an sEn ending, not to be confused with others) I recommend him absolutely.
I have yet to send you a decent picture of my Standard Poodle, Dante, but I will. He just turned one upon my return, and was happy to have me back fully repaired. Thanks again to all of you. It was an excellent experience, and that’s not easy when having surgery.
May 16, 2011,
South Lake Tahoe, CA - After several days of on-line research to find the most cost
effective way to have my hernia repaired, I contacted No
Insurance Surgery (NIS) for a consultation. It turned out to
be a very smart move. Dr. Peterson's education and experience
speaks for itself and after a phone consultation with him, I
felt assured that he had both the necessary experience and a
very enlightened approach to practicing medicine. I'm no
newcommer to surgery----this was #23 for me so I have much
experience with how doctors and their staff work. After my
pre-op blood work and EKG were done, the staff at NIS did a
thorough examination and provided me with a 'gift bag' of items
that would make my post-operative recuperation easier. This is
a very nice touch and the first time I'd experienced such
thoughtfulness.
Dr. Peterson's philosophy about providing
care in an environment where insurance company's eat up
most of the cost should be a model for how care should be
provided. With insurance companies posting record profits,
it's refreshing to find a care provider who's fees are so
reasonable that they are less than 6 mos. of most insurance
premiums and/or deductibles. I am glad to know that 100% of
the money I spent went directly to the quality care givers
I encountered and not one red cent went to bloated insurance
company overhead, administration and profits!! No need to go
overseas, Dr. Peterson and his staff are able to do this right
here in the USA so the money I spent supports jobs here!
My surgery was on April 27, 2011 and went well with no complications.
I'm now 2 days shy of being 3 weeks post-op and feeling great.
The first few days were no more painful than expected and I was
back home 36 hours after surgery. By day 4, I no longer needed
any pain meds. I felt well enough to participate in a slow, gentle
5 mile bicycle parade 15 days post-op. I don't recommend this as
it was sooner than would be prudent for most, but at age 60 I
have been an athlete for over 40 years, in excellent shape and
after 23 surgeries and multiple broken bones, have learned how
to maximize my bodies healing response. Everyone must honestly
evaluate their own rate of recuperation and I don't hold myself
up as an example other than to give testimony to the fine care
provided to me by Dr. Peterson and his talented staff.
May 12, 2011,
Oceanside, CA - I did not consider other options before choosing No
Insurance Surgery, as they were not accessible due to
financial constraints. When I looked online for lower cost
alternatives, I discovered NIS and went to the web site and
read it cover to cover. The testimonials were what really
caught my attention. Also, the method for evaluating my
condition and the personal telephone call from the surgeon
is unheard of in these days of automated attendants and
little to no direct contact. I was given several
alternatives for my free consultation. I had very little
discomfort prior to surgery, just sensitive to touch.
The staff was terrific. They were very helpful ,
knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. In fact, I was unable
to make our first appointment and they followed up with me
directly in a very timely fashion to reschedule. Dr.
Petersen’s office is very professional in a casual and
friendly way. They were terrific and very knowledgeable
about the process and extremely helpful. My first impression
of Dr. Petersen was a feeling of professional caring and
sincerity. The surgical facilities were clean, well
organized, friendly and professional. Prior to surgery I met
with the entire surgical staff that would be performing the
procedure and the anesthesiologist personally. They were
caring, professional and concerned. They took the time to
answer any questions I had, and addressed the concerns that
I expressed. They took whatever time I desired and did not
seem to be rushed or in a hurry to get on with it. The
recovery nurse was very pleasant and attended to whatever I
wanted or needed. I was offered juice, a small snack and
pain mediation without asking. She was very caring and
pleasant.
My post operative care was short and sweet. Again, there
was a genuine concern that all of my questions and concerns
were addressed. Based on my research, the cost is more than
fair, it is amazing. In this of incredibly expensive health
care it is refreshing to find someone who is extremely
competent and offers this service to folks without insurance
at an affordable cost. I believe it is one of the best
examples of win/win I have been personally involved in. This
money was very well spent. It allowed me to get back to
exercising and living without the fear and limitations that
a hernia imposes.
I would recommend Dr. Petersen to anyone without health
insurance, without reservation. An extremely caring and
competent professional with an extremely cost effective
solution for your health issue. Thank you so much for
offering this service to me and others in need. Keep up the
great work!

Apple Valley, CA - After viewing No Insurance Surgery website, my interest was
piqued. Also having seen the YouTube video I began to believe a
little more. Reading the many personal testimonials cemented the
deal for me. It was all about putting my trust in the right
doctor. Dr. Petersen is the real deal. Forget the money, trust
is more important. Having said that it was the best money
I ever spent. God Bless to the faint hearted.
Sincerely,
Bruce
Apple Valley, CA
December 3, 2010,
Reno, NV - Last May, my hernia begun as a tickle and became a
life-threatening emergency within a few painful hours. In the
Emergency Room that same night, a well-meaning but inexperienced
local Doctor made some poor choices for me that resulted in some
very severe hernia complications. I got a hernia plug and mesh
from my local Reno Doctor: the plug is a medical device that is
installed in less than 15 minutes and is promised to nearly
never fail. Mine produced constant pain!
Because the hernia plug and mesh was believed to be so
perfect, my local medical providers assumed the pain problem was
myself. By the time my insurance was "maxxed out", I had many
different diagnosis, eleven doctors who did nothing but look
confused and distrustful, and there was even a psychiatrist who
wanted to talk and start herbs, purifying diets, and colon
washes. The original surgeon abandoned my medical care and his
office staff sent hateful mail to me to let me understand how my
life was done at 52, and that I should expect nothing else but
pain.
Dr. Petersen first impressed me with his concern for my
constant use of an ice pack - ice packs should be wrapped in a
cotton cloth to avoid skin damage. There was an impressive phone
consultation where I learned Dr. Petersen had more years of
quality surgical experience than the sum of all the Doctors in
my home town. The Nevada Board of Medical Examiners confirmed
Dr. Petersen's glowing medical credentials. A fellowship in
Organ Transplantation is a credential of someone in the very top
2 percent of the medical field! I learned from a published
Faculty Head in California that Dr. Petersen does a
modified-Halsted surgical technique for a hernia closure without
using mesh and this is an ingenious technique known and admired
by Dr. Petersen's medical peers.
I had considered a hernia institute in Canada, but it had a
waiting period of several months. There was a respected European
Doctor I had considered, but upon close investigation I
discovered that when he removes all nerve tissue, his patients
may get good pain relief, but his work has a tendency to leave
some of his patients unable to feel the fullness of their
urinary bladders. I could have accepted this risk because my
pain was averaging sixes and sevens very commonly. So many
simple things such as reaching overhand or reaching for an
overhead cabinet could launch my abdominal pain into nines for
hours: I had no choice but to quickly research doctors and
choose a solution to take back my life.
Dr. Petersen's physician assistant Danielle begun my medical
examination in Las Vegas, and immediately I knew from her
careful and diligent work that I had made the right choice. Dr.
Petersen's medical examination and questioning showed his
immediate understanding and compassion for my medical
circumstances and all that had been done wrongly in Reno. Dr.
Petersen was totally honest in outlining my chances to benefit
from his surgery, and careful that I understood that I might not
necessarily improve any at all.
I will always remember my awakening from anesthesia, and how
it contrasted so sharply from my poor and damaging hospital
experience. I had been Dr. Petersen's last surgical patient of
the day and Dr. Petersen waited until I was conscious before he
departed for the day. I recall my recovery nurse saying bye to
him. Dr. Petersen was responsible for me and he respected me
enough to personally oversee that I had no problems. No other
Doctor has treated me that well and been that responsible. When
I awoke, I had family at my side, two nurses, and most
importantly, the immediate and total relief of one of several
pain locations.
The next day, on my follow-up appointment with Dr. Petersen,
I felt so much less pain that I wondered how I had gotten
through the past months with the sensation of having a
blow-torch in my abdomen. Dr. Petersen checked his work on my
body (which was perfect) and showed me the plug and mesh. It had
irritated my body constantly. The device had apparently
partially detached its pieces and made a long lumpy jagged piece
of debris that was constantly stabbing and rubbing surrounding
tissues to rawness and pain. This would have led to either
infection or more scar tissue and even more pain in my immediate
future. In my hometown I would NOT have gotten any further
medical help nor any quality medical help.
Dr. Petersen and his office staff at NO INSURANCE SURGERY are
outstanding. The art of medical practice lies in finding the
right balance of surgical skill and compassion in your medical
care providers. Currently neither surgical skill nor compassion
is the emphasis of insurance-based medicine, and so NO INSURANCE
SURGERY is doubly unique in helping people who are not within
insurance networks, or are like myself, newly thrown out of
insurance.
I remember making some poor personal decisions when I was
overrun with pain, and simply not being the usually warm,
supportive, and energetic person I that have been all of my
life. I am just over a week since my surgery with Dr. Petersen
and the pain I experience now is all under a two in intensity,
and lasts maybe several minutes at most.
This is likely still part of post-op pain and sensitivity,
and I know that I am a slow healing person. It is truly such a
joy to get back to a normal and healthy life and I can look
forward to a lot of good years ahead for myself.
If I can help anyone, they can email me at (call for contact
information) and I am glad to share what I know.
July 7, 2010,
Dickson, TN - Dear Dr. Peterson,
I wanted to thank you for the wonderful treatment my husband
received from start to finish. I would like you to share
our story with others, so that they will feel comfortable with
your services and put any skepticism aside to get the quality
care they deserve at a most affordable price.
My fiance (at the time) and I own an insurance and tax agency in
White Bluff, Tennessee. We had only 2 employees so a group
health plan for us was very expensive. We were paying
$1800.00 per month for a plan with no co-pays, no prescription
coverage and a $5000.00 deductible. After two years of
paying for it, raising rates and the insurance company denying
our free well checks every year, we just couldn't afford it
anymore. So we became uninsured.
About a few years ago, my fiance developed a hernia in his his
groin area. Of course it went untreated for a long time
with no insurance. It got bigger and bigger and went into
his scrotum and was painful. We knew it needed to be taken
care of or it could become strangulated and that would be life
threatening and even more costly. I started to price the
surgery in our area. I was just worried sick after I heard
the costs from several doctors and hospitals where it had to be
performed. On average it was 15 to 20 thousand dollars to
have it done, and most wouldn't do it since we were uninsured.
I started to search the Internet for more affordable options,
and this is how we found Dr. Peterson. We completed the
online consult form and they responded in a very timely matter.
We had a phone visit with Dr. Peterson and were given a price of
$4000.00 for everything. We were very skeptical at first
with such a low price after being quoted so much more. So
we did some research. First we looked him up with the state of
Nevada. There were no complaints filed against him,
and we were able to see where all his schooling came from.
I was impressed. I searched more on the Internet and found
a news segment on his practice. It's pretty easy to figure out,
how he can offer these prices.....it's not done in a hospital
with such overhead and greed. He is able to perform the
surgery at an outpatient surgery center set up in the same
manner as in a hospital.
We set up the surgery. They really are able to accommodate
out of town patients. Since we have never been to Vegas
before, we decided to make it a mini vacation. We arrived
Friday morning, had the preop appointment Monday and surgery on
Tuesday morning. We had to go for a post op check
Wednesday and we flew out that night. We booked a room at
the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino which was only $270 for the 6
days we were there, the flights in advance were $550 for the two
of us and we rented a car for $130. It was under $5000.00 for a
vacation and a surgery! We were able to see all the sights
in Las Vegas before the surgery...it's an amazing city!
Since we were going to Vegas, and we have been together for 11
years....we decided to get married while we were there. It
was a great experience for us. Having surgery has
never been as much fun!
After Dr. Peterson did the surgery, he explained how large it
was (which we pretty much figured). It was defiantly
considered a difficult hernia repair...he had to go into the
scrotum to pull his intestines out and put them back in place.
It was simple for Dr. Peterson. My husband did very well
and has recovered just fine with no problems!
I have attached some photos of the surgery facility, his office,
a picture of us with Dr. Peterson, and a couple wedding photos.
Dr. Peterson, we thank you so much for what you are doing.
I pray that more doctors start to think like you do and give
patients a more affordable option. We are forever
grateful!!
If there is anyone who would like to call me for a reference, I
would be more than happy to oblige. You are welcome to
give them our phone number.
May you have many successful years with your practice.
Sincerely,
Michael and Tanya VanOvermeiren

Ogden, UT - My experience with NoInsuranceSurgery.com was fantastic! I was
super worried about the process and Dr. Petersen and his entire
staff (Thanks, Kari!) were great to work with. Imagine this: You
fly in for 2.5 days and you fly home fixed! The cost for my
Umbilical Hernia was also $14,000.00 CHEAPER than any local
doctor. The staff from the beginning to the end were
professional and competent while caring and compassionate. You
will never feel like a number with these guys! Dr. Petersen was
even available by cell phone and text after the operation. When
was the last time your doctor cared that much? Check out
NoInsuranceSurgery.com and I hope you have a great experience
like I did.

Colorado Springs, CO - Hand written letter from patient:
February 18, 2010, Denver, CO - I am a 48 yr old male from Denver, Colorado. I lost
my health insurance January 2009 when I was laid off
from my job. Sure enough, two months later I started
having pain in my lower abdomen. I thought it was an
abdominal strain.I went to two doctors who both
insisted that I had an abdominal strain. I saw a surgeon
in Denver on July 4th, 2009 and an ultrasound confirmed
I had an inguinal hernia on the left side and a sports
hernia on the right.
I could not get health insurance due to the
pre-existing condition that I had, nor could I afford to
pay local surgeons $12,000 to $18,000 for the repair. I
discovered Dr. Petersen on the internet and set up a
consultation in late July. Dr Petersen listened to my
experience and he explained to me the procedure and
cost. Dr. Petersen was kind, understanding and very
knowledgeable. I could not believe how affordable his
fees were. I started saving money so I could have him
do the operation.
By Feb. 2nd 2010, I had saved enough money to have
the surgery done. Due to my pain level, I explained to
Dr. Petersen that I felt that the hernia on my right
side was now an inguinal hernia as well.
The care and quality from Dr. Petersen and his staff
is first class. I felt so comfortable and cared for. The
nurses and anesthesiologist at the surgical center were
incredible. Dr. Petersen repaired two inguinal hernias,
one on each side. My constant pain went away that same
day. I had the usual post surgery pain, but the constant
pain that I had been living with was now gone. I was on
the prescribed pain medication for only a day and a
half. I am two weeks out from surgery and feel great.
I can’t thank Dr. Petersen and his staff enough for
the professional care. I could not recommend anyone more
than Dr. Petersen and his staff. What a truly great
experience this was for me, and I feel like I have my
life back again.
January 3, 2010, Folsom, CA - Hello Dr Petersen,
Just wanted to let you know I
made it home safe and sound thanks to the wonderful
staff at the airport and Southwest. The wheelchair
from the curb to the gate was a nice treat. I am
doing well and resting as much as I can. I have
only had to take the pain meds a few times.
I want to thank you for
providing your service for people like me without
health insurance. Our government should use you as
an example of what can be done to reduce the cost of
healthcare. I am not sure when I would have been
able to have the repair if not for finding you. I
just wish I had not waited as long as I did to seek
out my options for repair.
Like I said at my post-op
appointment, everything I found in my research on
you and your procedure was very accurate. You,
Jacqueline, Kari, and Tom were all wonderful and
made a very trepidatious experience much better. I
also want to pass on my thanks to the wonderful
nurses at the surgery center. Michelle, Pam and
Wenda were so very kind and gentle. I could not
have asked for better care.
After going through this
procedure, I am not sure how you do all of it for
the price you require. When I look back at all I
received and the exceptional quality of care you and
all your staff provided, your price is a bargain.
Thank you again for
the service you provide to those of us working
americans that can't afford healthcare insurance.
December 11, 2009, Decora, IA - Dear Dr. Petersen,
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to you for
the wonderful job you did to repair my son's hernia.
He has recovered nicely from the surgery and is doing well.
Even though we were somewhat apprehensive about traveling
to Nevada for his surgery, we were immediately put at
ease when we met you and your staff. The staff members at
the Medical District Surgery Center were also very kind
and helpful to us.We were extremely pleased with all
aspects of Matt's care while we were there.
I am deeply grateful for your willingness to provide
this surgery at a reasonable cost for patients without
insurance. I had contacted all of the major clinics
in our area and the costs were prohibitive. It was
well worth our time and effort to travel to Las Vegas
to have you perform the surgery.
Many, many thanks to you and your staff for the excellent
and professional care given to my son.
Monday December 7, 2009, Prescott, AZ - Dear Kari, Dr. Petersen, and staff,
10 days ago I contacted you by e mail. To my surprise
I was contacted back very quickly. Later that day
Dr Petersen called and consulted with my wife and
I concerning my Hernia.
We made the decision to proceed with the surgery. We
drove from Prescott, AZ to Las Vegas. We were in Las
Vegas 3 days.
During our visit everything went exactly as we were
told. We were even treated like people, not $$$$$$. I
was on pain meds for only 3 days after surgery. (only
5 pills total).
Today I called to see if some minor twinges are normal
and was told yes.
Thank you for your approach to medicine. (or maybe just
caring about your patients) Please extend my thanks to
the people in the O/R.
Thursday October 15, 2009 - Yesterday KLAS TV Channel 8 News' Alyson McCarthy
interviewed me and several of my patients in my office
yesterday. It was aired that evening on the 5 and 6
o'clock Channel 8 news in Las Vegas. Seeing it makes me
proud of my staff and my patients and what we are doing.

August 18, 2009, Lake Havasu City, AZ -
Our 11 year old son Sam came home from football
practice one night with a small lump in his lower
abdomen. We made an appointment with his pediatrician
but the doctor was unable to give a definite diagnosis
because the lump was gone. They didn’t see any
indication of a hernia so we were told to phone the
office if it ever returned, and the doctor would see him
right away. The lump did not return for several months,
during which time Sam started complaining of soreness
and swelling in one of his testicles. He was diagnosed
with a hydrocele, the collection of fluid in the
testicle, which also went away on it’s own. Then he came
home from basketball practice one night and the lump had
returned. It was gone again by morning, so calling the
doctor’s office seemed futile, but we did it anyway.
They referred us to a urologist, but they could not get
us in for almost 3 weeks. We were now very concerned
with his condition, and stopped all sports activities.
A friend recommended we call Dr. Petersen at Summerlin
Surgical Associates, Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada. I made
the call on a Thursday afternoon and Dr. Petersen called
me for a phone consultation the same day. He explained
to me that a lot of hernias in adolescents go
undiagnosed because the physical evidence is not there
during an exam. After speaking with me for several
minutes and asking many questions regarding Sam’s health
history, I felt confident that this was the Surgeon for
Sam. His office manager Kari then took over on the phone
and hooked us up with the No Insurance Surgery program.
I got online, filled out the questionnaire and had a way
to get my son’s hernia operated on without having to
worry about where I was going to get the money. Sam was
scheduled for hernia surgery the following Tuesday.
I cannot say enough good things about Dr.
Petersen and his entire staff. The attention and genuine
concern they all gave Sam, my husband and myself was
unmatched in any other medical office or surgical
facility we have ever dealt with. What could have been a
very scary ordeal, was an easy and comfortable one for
Sam. He has made a complete recovery and will start
football practice for a new season next week. Thank you
all from the bottom of our hearts.

August 5, 2009, Seal Beach, CA - Dr. Petersen is on to something that is so
fundamental, yet so elusive. He is a caring, skilled and
sympathetic doctor who understands that there are many
in this country that do not have medical insurance, but
need care as much as those who do. In a time when many
care most about making money, Dr. Petersen earns his
money by showing how much he cares.
My husband and I were skeptical when we first heard of
Dr. Petersen and his "No insurance surgery". As cliché
as it sounds, it seemed too good to be true. I spent
many hours researching Dr. Petersen on-line and even
went so far as to call the Nevada Medical Board. I
learned that there were no complaints filed with the
board, which is incredible considering the amount of
surgeries Dr. Petersen has performed.
I would also like to compliment Dr. Petersen’s staff.
They are a joy to deal with and are available before and
after surgery to answer questions, no matter how small
they may be. A rare find in today’s world for sure.
My husband and I traveled to Las Vegas from California
for my surgery. After paying the VERY reasonable fee,
having surgery and then recovering for a time in Las
Vegas, we returned home. The after care from Dr.
Petersen and his staff is absolutely first rate. I have
spoken to Dr. Petersen on two occasions since we have
been home, and Dr. Petersen even called in a
prescription for me to our local pharmacy here in
California.
We truly feel blessed that we were able to find Dr.
Petersen and would absolutely recommend him without
hesitation to anyone with or without insurance.
July 29,2009, Fresno, CA - In May of 2009 I incurred a mild groin pain, which
quickly became an inguinal hernia. I consulted with my
doctor in Fresno (as well as researching the problem
online) and found out that hernias do not repair
themselves and can only be fixed by surgery.
I am unemployed and have no insurance whatsoever. My
doctor told me that, at a minimum, a surgery center
would cost me $10,000, maybe more, and that wouldn't
include the cost of the surgeon, which would add $2,000
to $5,000 or more to the cost.
I went online to see what I could find in the way of
a better cost for the surgery. In a chat room devoted to
hernia surgeries I found a reference to a Dr. in Las
Vegas, Nevada, and a package price. From that I found
the website for www.noinsurancesurgery.com and Dr. Kevin
Petersen.
I checked Dr. Petersen out through the Nevada State
Board of Medical Examiners (I actually talked to a
person!) and found that he had no disciplinary actions
and no complaints. With that, I contacted his website
and took the online consultation.
A couple of days later, his office assistant, Kari,
called me and set up an appointment to talk to Dr.
Petersen. Either in the online consultation or during my
telephone consultation with Dr. Petersen, two questions
came up that my doctor in Fresno had not asked: Did I at
times feel stomach pain or cramps, which I did; and did
I sometimes feel back pain, which I also did. This gave
me more confidence in Dr. Petersen. During our telephone
conversation he quoted me a package price for
his in office consultation, surgery, and post surgery
visit.
An appointment was set up for me to see Dr. Petersen
in Las Vegas on Monday, July 20,2009. With the help of
my oldest brother and my sister I was able to come up
with necessary money. I flew to Las Vegas, checked into
a nearby hotel (Suncoast) and saw Dr. Petersen at the
appointed time.
I also have a heart condition called angina. Dr.
Petersen refused to consider surgery until I had been
seen and cleared by a cardiologist. (I was told this
prior to flying to Las Vegas, but I felt that there
wouldn't be a problem.) Dr. Stahl knows and works with
Dr. Petersen and I was charged less than half the rate
for an insurance paying patient for a consultation,
stress test, and EKG. I was cleared for surgery. (Dr.
Petersen told me that if I was not cleared for surgery
he would refund the full deposit and surgery fee. I had already paid in
full at my first consultation. The consultation with the
cardiologist was the next day.)
My sister flew in on Wednesday night to be with me
after the surgery, otherwise I would have had to pay an
additional fee to be placed in an ambulatory care
center. No post surgery patient is allowed to be alone
for the first 24 hours. I had the surgery on Thursday,
July 23, 2009. Everything went like clock-work and I was
back in my hotel that afternoon.
I saw Dr. Peterson the next morning at about 10:30
am. I was doing fine and I was cleared to fly back home
that day, which I did that evening.
The total cost for my surgery, including airfare for
my sister and me, as well as hotel, meals, and taxi
fare, came to about one-half or less than
one-half of what it would have cost me in Fresno.
It has now been a week since the surgery and I
(strictly following the doctor's post operation
instructions) am doing good.
This experience had been wonderful, not having to get
a surgery, but being able to get necessary surgery done
quickly and inexpensively. I don't know what I would
have done without Dr. Petersen and No Insurance Surgery.
It is doubtful that my brother and sister could have
come up with the $15,000 (minimum) cost of having the
surgery done in Fresno.
Dr. Petersen, his office staff, Dr. Stahl and his
staff, and the surgical and anesthesiology staff always
treated me with professional courtesy, respect, and
kindness. I absolutely recommend Dr. Petersen and No
Insurance Surgery to anyone in my situation, unemployed
and with no insurance, or if you just want to save a
whole lot of money and have safe, professional medical
treatment for your hernia ... or any other surgery that
Dr. Petersen does.
July 27, 2009, UT - Thank you for the surgery you performed on me on Thurs
July 23. I am home and feeling pretty good. "You and
your whole staff, including the nurses at the hospital
were all very kind and I appreciate the care and
attention you and they gave me. You are a fine
surgeon. The nurses at the hospital told me (I didn't
ask they just told me), they respect you and your skill
very much. That respect only comes when it's earned.
Sorry I was a little sick on Friday. I did much better
when I quit taking the pain pills. They kind of made my
head spin which made me seasick. The pain was easier to
tolerate than the nausea. You tightened me up in the
abdomen and it feels much better. I'll rest and stay on
the recovery schedule you gave me. Again, thanks to you
and your staff for doing such a great job I really
appreciate it.
May 15, 2009, Lawrenceville, GA -
I found "NoInsuranceSurgery" the same way I suspect
many folks have; I was desperate for relief of my
obvious hernia injury, but couldn’t even begin to be
able to afford the enormous price quotes I was getting
from surgeons in the Atlanta area where I live.I had
put it off for so long that it had become uncomfortable
to do most physical activities, let alone the lifting
that my job as a remodeling contractor required. The
internet pictures and descriptions that I had seen of
men that had ignored their hernias and got into trouble
served only to increase my discomfort. I had had a
double hernia operation when I was very young, and the
pain of that operation stands out in my mind as a life
changing experience.
I filled out the web site’s questionnaire and sent it
in, although at that point I still wasn’t sure I wanted
to travel all the way across country to have surgery
with someone I had never heard of. After completing a
rather extensive search for information about Dr.
Peterson, I was actually surprised to find absolutely no
negative information or reports on him anywhere,
including the Nevada Board of Medicine. Just because a
doctor is near to you is no guarantee that he or she
will be a good doctor.
I finally made the leap to schedule the surgery after
having my free telephone consultation with Dr. Peterson.
At no time did I ever feel like he was rushing me in our
discussion, answered all my questions in an easy to
understand manner and made me feel confident I had made
the right choice. This was backed up by the caring
attention I got from everyone else I encountered on Dr.
Peterson’s staff as well as in the facilities he used.
I arrived in Las Vegas late Sunday night, had my initial
appointment and checkup Monday morning, and got ready
for surgery first thing Tuesday morning. Everywhere I
went, I was expected. That’s always a great feeling,
especially when you’ve traveled as far as I had to get
there!
Of the entire experience, the surgery was far and away
the easiest step! I was in and out in no time, back to
my room before lunch. The pain was a LOT less than I had
expected! I only had to use prescription pain meds for a
few days when I got home, after which ibuprofen was
plenty. My fears in that respect were totally
unjustified. Why did I wait so long?
As a final bonus, during the recovery period I have
managed to quit smoking cigarettes! Dr. Peterson
supported me wholeheartedly in this endeavor, explaining
that it was the perfect time to quit. I’ll pay for the
surgery in less than a year with the money I’m saving by
quitting!
If your story resembles mine, don’t do like I did and
wait until your problem gets dangerous or worse. Go
ahead and get on Dr. Peterson’s schedule. Put yourself
in the hands of his capable staff and it will all be
behind you before you know it!
May 4, 2009, Charlotte, NC - On March 19th, 2009, I found out that I
had a left inguinal hernia and, possibly an umbilical
hernia also. I went through a process of research on the
internet that lead me to No Insurance Surgery, Inc. I
completed the on line survey, and soon after received a
call from Dr. Petersen's office. After discussing my
situation with the secretary, Kari and Dr. Petersen, I
felt assured I was placing my health care in very
professional hands. I planned to have my surgery on
April 8th, 2009.
On April 7th, I arrived at the office for
my pre-surgery exam and instructions. I was met by a
kind and caring secretary, a well trained physician's
assistant and a true professional in Dr. Petersen.
Everyone made me feel very comfortable that my decision
was the right one. The instructions were very direct and
to the point. Dr. Petersen answered all questions and
concerns from my wife and me.
On April 8th, I arrived at the surgical
facility. It was just as professional and up to date as
any modern hospital that I have been in. The staff
fussed over me and made feel like I was the president or
someone of royal status. Each person on the surgical
staff took time to explain their function in the
surgical process. I was so relaxed, I think I placed
myself in a dream state of mind. The surgery went very
well. The hands on recovery was very appropriate, caring
and professional I was and I'm still pleased with the
entire surgical process. Everything went just as Dr.
Petersen said it would. < />
Having both my left inguinal and umbilical hernias
repaired for the cost I paid was well worth every penny.
If there is anyone that I know with or without insurance
that need anyone of the surgeries that you offer, I
would highly recommend you and your staff and
associates.
December 19, 2008, Layfayette, IN -
I recently had surgery at Summerlin Medical Center.
Dr. Kevin Petersen, the surgeon and all of his staff
were not only professional in their services, but were
very kind and caring. They took time to explain the
procedure thoroughly to my wife and me, and were
genuinely concerned with our well being. It was
refreshing to find medical personnel this caring and
down to earth. Dr. Petersen even gave us his cell phone
number in case we had any problems!
Thank you, Dr. Petersen, for your desire to provide
affordable surgery to those whose do not have medical
insurance. You have certainly been a blessing to me and
I’m sure many others. I am recovering nicely after
little over two weeks.
May God bless you and all the staff at Summerlin Medical
Center and may you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year!
December 12, 2008, Torrence, CA -
Dear Dr. Kevin Petersen,
I just wanted to write you a letter and thank you for
your service. You are truly a professional with the
highest regard for your patients. I had no insurance and
put off my surgery for many years. I found talking to
you that I no longer need to wait anymore. The surgery
you did for me was amazing. I am truly happy with the
result. I normally do not write a letter of
recommendation. I am compelled to write this one because
I would like to provide some comfort to those who may be
considering getting a hernia surgery. If they love
themselves and want a surgery to be successful at an
affordable price then they should look nowhere else.
The office visit made me feel relaxed and assured me of
a good result. Your staff was very friendly. You made me
feel that we were family very quickly. Your surgery
location was very professional and clean. Everything
that you told me that would happen actually exactly as
you said. Within an hour it was over and within 1 hour
afterwards I was up and walking. I told you that I was
concerned about the pain. You told me not to worry. You
were right, it was very manageable. I only took the pain
medication for only 9 days and then I did not need it
anymore. You told me, all had to do was just listen to
you and trust you and everything will be just fine. I
found this to be true.
I would recommend people to go out of their way and
travel to Dr. Petersen’s office. He is a true
professional. The surgery was inexpensive compared to
any other place I know. You saved me a lot of worry, and
a lot of money. Most places would have charged anywhere
from $8000 to $30000 depending on the procedure. The
average price I found was around $12000-$16000. You
charged me a lot less. It cost me about 25% of the cost.
Even with the travel and lodging expenses I still saved
a ton of money. I also got to have a small vacation in
Las Vegas with my wife during the few days of healing
before we headed back home to LA. We need that time to
relax and be together. During that time my wife and I
were able to catch up on our sleep and reconnect to each
other. We were not busy, just relaxing and talking to
each other which helped our relationship. We came home
relaxed and very happy. I would not go to anyone else if
I would ever need your services. You told me that you
would do an industrial repair so that it world hold and
not reopen again. I have found you to be a man of your
word. I cannot say it any clearer.
November 28, 2008, Waikoloa, HI -
I have no insurance and I live in Hawaii. I
visited a surgeon here concerning my hernia and was told
the surgeon’s fee alone to repair my hernia would be
$12,000. (Everything else, the anesthesiologist, the
surgical center and all tests would be extra.)
I could not afford that expense, nor could I tolerate
the pain. Then I found No Insurance Surgery and a few
other sites online. My wife and I researched each of
them. We even considered traveling to Mexico, India,
Thailand or Canada.
After our phone consultation with Dr. Petersen, we were
convinced that No Insurance Surgery was the best choice
for us. We had religious issues regarding blood
transfusions. Dr. Petersen LISTENED to our
concerns and made us feel comfortable with his medical
and individual approach to solving our problems.
We chose No Insurance Surgery not only for the price,
but because of the personal attention we received from
Dr. Petersen and his staff. Everyone we dealt with was
professional, friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend Dr. Petersen and No Insurance
Surgery to anyone who needs a hernia repair. I could not
be more pleased. There is no need to go overseas!
From Hawaii, a big "Mahalo" to Dr. Petersen and the
staff of No Insurance Surgery
November 7, 2008, San Mateo, CA -
Testimonial to a job well done:
When I searched the Internet and discovered a solution
to my inguinal hernia I was pleased. Now I can say
without question I received the highest quality care
from Kevin C. Petersen, M.D. and his associates and
colleagues.
As I write, it has now been several months since my
inguinal hernia repair and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve been back to swimming and bike riding from a month
following the operation.
The incision pain was minimal. The scar healed without
complications and the tenderness resolved over the month
following surgery.
It’s worth mentioning that I’m a discriminating consumer
of heath care, a physician myself.
Also I agree, with the advice on the site. I had delayed
prior to seeking surgery in order to facilitate a busy
schedule. The hernia did worsen some during the delay. I
would have been smarter to have it repaired as soon as
it I noted the pain.
October 10, 2008, Hayward, CA -
Suffering from an old hernia issue (mine was a mesh
involved complication and Dr. Petersen uses the less
invasive and frankly better, no-mesh technique),
thankfully Dr. Petersen and No Insurance Surgery offers
an affordable and reasonable medical option for people
without insurance.
With a deep medical knowledge and expertise, Dr.
Petersen calmly and caringly took me through the
possible course of action and what would best offer
relief. There can be no doubt that Dr. Petersen
and his gracious office staff are concerned in the well
being of the patient. The relief and turn around I
am experiencing has allowed me to return to a normal
life. I enthusiastically recommended Dr. Petersen
as the surgeon of choice for your operation needs.
What a blessing No Insurance Surgery is in this day and
age of health insurance run around.
October 8, 2008, Austin, TX -
I looked for surgeons and hospitals in my local area
and found the cost to be 4-5 times as expensive as Dr.
Petersen. I needed the surgery because I was in
excruciating pain from gallbladder attacks.
I chose No Insurance Surgery because the fees were
much lower. Dr Petersen was able to book me quickly; the
staff was friendly on the phone and there was a payment
plan available.
Dr Petersen’s staff was very accommodating and set up
a telephone consultation with the doctor. He was very
friendly and informative on the phone. That was the
same way he treated me when we met in his office for the
pre-operative examination.
Everyone I encountered was friendly and reassuring.
The staff at the surgical center was professional and
pleasant.
Dr. Petersen’s staff called to check on me after the
surgery. My follow up visit with the doctor was quick
but through.
I believe this was money well spent. I was having
terrible pain that interfered with my ability to work. I
would definitely recommend No Insurance Surgery and Dr.
Petersen to anyone I felt could benefit from his
services. I had a great experience.
September 21, 2008 - Chula Vista, CA -
I live in San Diego County, one of the best places in
the USA for medical treatment. I thought I could find
someone who would fix my agonizing inguinal hernia for a
decent price. I had no insurance coverage for the
hernia, as it was a pre-existing condition (9 years).
Yet when I looked around I was told it would cost
between $10,000 and $15,000 — for a straightforward
procedure!
Becoming desperate after an attack of the flu and the
subsequent coughing completely ruptured the hernia into
a full-blown, gut-dropping nightmare, I searched the Web
for someone, even in another state, who would do the
surgery. I thought I could go to Tijuana, just next
door, but was wary about staying several days there or
having to cross the border several times. So when I came
across Dr. Petersen's Web site, filled out the
questionnaire, and received an e-mail response, I
couldn't believe it. The price was less than half the
lowest I'd been quoted, but I was still dubious. How
could he offer such a low price and still give
high-quality care — and in Las Vegas, of all places!
(Answer: specialization and efficiency, along with a
deep concern about how our medical establishment has
gone wrong, and how it can be right.)
After a phone consultation with Dr. Petersen, I was won
over by his easy manner and caring attitude. He wasn't
rushed, as so many doctors are, and stayed until all my
questions were answered. His assistant, Kari, was
equally warm and helpful, and I set up the surgery,
staying at a hotel near the Summerlin Medical Center.
At every step — from the initial blood work, the actual
surgery, and the final exam, I was made to feel relaxed
and confident. The staff were friendly and I felt I'd
known each one much longer than my stay there. They had
a family-like feel and mutual respect that I've never
see in a medical staff before — except maybe on TV! What
was even better is that Dr. Petersen didn't have to use
mesh to repair the rupture, which I had wanted to avoid
after hearing horror stories about its complications.
My recovery has been quick and exactly as he plotted for
me. I was off pain medication after only four days and
up and doing light duties around the house after one
week. I've never been more satisfied or felt more
confident in any clinic in my life. I would recommend
Dr. Petersen and his marvelous staff to anyone — and do!
I'm putting www.noinsurancesurgery.com on my "important links"
page of my musical group's Web site.
Thanks, again to Dr. Petersen, and his wonderful staff.
September 22, 2008, McAllen, TX -
In Oct. of 2007, I was diagnosed with an inguinal
hernia. I struggled to keep my life in balance. Having a
hernia severely limits your physical activity. I was
stubborn enough to think it would heal on its own. To my
dismay I learned that hernias can only be cured by
surgery. As the months passed, my ability to even stand
for four hours was diminishing.
In January I went to a hospital; after two days the
doctor asked me how I planned to take care of the cost
of surgery. He told me the price would be $12,000 not
including a surgeon’s fee, or anesthesia. There was no
way I could pay that kind of money; with disappointment
I left the hospital and continued to suffer.
Searching for information on the internet I discovered
Dr. Petersen's website. I was amazed with the survey and
how much it told me about my hernia.
The most amazing news came when I spoke to Doctor
Petersen personally. Yes, he called me back discussed my
case and informed me the total cost of operation was
$4000.
Needless to say, I was thrilled. In September I had the
surgery, and I’ve haven’t felt this good since I was a
teenager.
Dr. Petersen and his staff are totally a committed,
patient oriented group. They truly care about your
health and physical condition. The result has been
priceless; I can only hope that more people find this
excellent office that is No Insurance Surgery.
December 21, 2007, Corpus Christi, TX - Brandy is a 34 year old woman who was suffering with
severe chronic abdominal pain as a result of twelve
surgeries. Some of these procedures were to repair
hernias in which mesh was used. Other surgeries were to
attempts to remove the mesh and alleviate the severe
pain. At the time she contacted Dr. Petersen, Brandy had
not been able to find relief.
"Yes I had twelve surgeries, prior to finding Dr.
Petersen, but no one would fix the problem". A surgeon
would attempt to solve one problem and then tell me
you’ll have to come back".
In one instance she had been seen by a surgeon who was
unable to find the cause of the pain because the tests
and her medical records, in his words, "showed nothing".
According to Brandy, "He (the surgeon) told me if this
were true about my intestines, I would probably wind up
with a bag on my leg".
I was at my wits end. I could not eat, sleep, or
function normally. I was not able to work because I was
dizzy and sick all the time.
Then I found Dr. Petersen on his website. His staff set
up a phone interview and I finally made contact with
someone who would listen to me, and understand the
condition and the pain I was experiencing. Dr. Petersen
said, "He regularly heard patients who had had hernia
repairs using mesh describe this kind of problem." I was
so relieved. I felt I had finally found someone who
could help me, I understood that I was not alone and I
was not crazy.
The No Insurance Surgery staff was most professional.
From the time of my first contact everyone was
accommodating, considerate and made me feel comfortable.
Dr. Petersen is a friendly, kind person. I could tell at
my first meeting that he knew what he was doing and
cared about me. I have never had a doctor sit down and
talk to me and listen. He made sure all my questions
were answered. Dr. Petersen is a true life saver.
The surgical facilities were clean and the staff very
friendly. It was obvious that they do these types of
surgeries all the time. They made me comfortable and
respected my concerns.
After the surgery to remove the mesh, I did experience
some pain, but Dr. Petersen was very thorough. He gave
me clear instructions, prescribed appropriate medication
and told me to call him anytime.
I am healed, and I feel great. The pain is gone. I have
my life back.
I would recommend Dr. Petersen to anyone who needs the
services of a General Surgeon. I cannot say enough about
how positive this experience has been. Thank you Dr.
Petersen.
Aug 3, 2007, Las Vegas, NV - I chose No Insurance Surgery because I did not have
other options….No Insurance Surgery was affordable and
it peaked my interest because I am on disability so my
finances are limited. (I had previous hernia surgery
that cost me over $55,000!)
I suffered with pain and discomfort for over a year and
a half…..I was limited as to where I could go, what I
could do and even what clothes I could wear…..At No
Insurance Surgery I was treated very well by the staff…I
was given options to have my free consultation….the
friendly, professional staff was courteous and
efficient….they got me in and out quickly which is very
important to me…..my first impression of Dr. Petersen
was that he was extremely knowledgeable and he gave me
great confidence that my hernia problem would be
fixed….The surgical facilities were very comfortable,
clean and quiet…the surgical and anesthesiology staff
made me feel at ease…..they answered all my questions
and helped me to relax prior to surgery…my recovery was
good…..the staff and Dr. Petersen were right there when
I woke up.
I was very pleased with the post surgical care by Dr.
Petersen….there was no waiting in his office and he took
the time to answer all my questions about recovery and
what I could and could not do during my
recuperation….The cost was very fair and reasonable
…..it was worth every penny….I would not hesitate to
recommend Dr. Petersen to anyone who has this kind of
problem…. Everything went smoothly from my first phone
call to my last follow up appointment.
July 6, 2007, Santa Rosa - I needed hernia surgery quickly and was very frustrated
trying to find something I could afford locally; I
stumbled upon Dr. Petersen's website and filled out the
questionnaire out of curiosity. I was impressed with his
clear and encouraging reply the next day, but still
suspicious, I checked him out further; BBB, Consumer
Affairs, and the Medical Examiners Board - not a single
complaint! So I had a phone interview with him,
flew into Las Vegas three days later, and was treated
with dignity, care, and a most unusual amount of
assistance at every step of the way. When he learned I
had come without a companion, he had one of his staff
drive me to my hotel after the surgery, and he
personally called me that evening and the next morning
to be sure I was okay - even gave me his cell
phone number in case I had any problems. I am now
healing nicely and feeling deeply Blessed by the entire
experience.
May 13, 2007, Las Vegas, NV - I chose No Insurance Surgery because I was in pain for
many years and scared….then I saw the Billboard offering
free consultation… when met Dr. Petersen. I liked his
appearance and very professional manner….the
price was good…I was offered a choice of times for my
consultation… the office staff was helpful and
friendly…..the people at the surgical center were very
nice…..I think the price was reasonable and
affordable…..it was money well spent and I would 100%
recommend Dr. Petersen and No Insurance Surgery to other
patients.

Las Vegas, NV
May 2, 2007, Las Vegas - I liked No Insurance Surgery because they gave me a
price that was fair that included everything I needed….
The staff assisted me in applying for and
processing the financing which was a big
help….I was treated very well by the both the office and
the surgical center staffs… Dr. Petersen was very
professional and took his time with me……I was very
pleased with his the post surgical care ….This was
money well spent, the costs were reasonable and
fair…I would recommend Dr. Petersen and No Insurance
Surgery to anyone who needs their services.

February 23, 2007, Las Vegas, NV - Before I learned of No Insurance Surgery and Dr.
Petersen, I was scheduled to see another doctor who was
going to charge me $255 just for a consultation, but
would not tell me the price of the surgery…. Knowing I
needed the surgery, they still would not give me a hint
as to the cost of my gallbladder surgery…..then I saw
the No Insurance Surgery billboard and it was a relief
to know that I could get my surgery done at a reasonable
one time cost….this was my first surgical experience and
Dr. Petersen set my mind at rest when I first saw him in
his office….he answered all my questions…..surgery was
scheduled two days later……the surgical facility was very
good…..the staff took a personal interest in me…….the
cost was reasonable and fair….I have since referred
other patients to Dr. Petersen, and I will continue to
do so….this was money well spent…..I am feeling so much
better.
February 16, 2007, Glendale, AZ - Before I found Dr. Petersen, I had been seeking help for
over 4 years……because I was uninsured no other surgeon I
contacted was willing to help me… I was living each day
with disabling pain……That is why I was thrilled when I
found the No Insurance Surgery website… the staff was
courteous and professional……. Since I live outside Las
Vegas, Dr. Petersen, initially consulted with me by
phone…..after that call I knew for sure that I was going
to get the help I needed…Dr. Petersen impressed me with
his knowledge and he took his time to care, listen, and
evaluate all that I shared with him…… After my
examination in his office, the surgery was promptly
scheduled…..everyone at the surgical facility was
comforting and professional… they treated me so very
well…recovery was very good…. I was absolutely pleased
with the post surgical care by Dr. Petersen……this entire
experience was the best…..I consider the cost fair and
reasonable….this was absolutely money well spent….I
would tell the world about this amazing doctor….. I plan
to tell everyone that he was able to find the problem
and fix it….get me out of pain…and give me my life back.
January 30, 2007, Las Vegas, NV - Dr. Petersen and the No Insurance Surgery team are
absolutely wonderful. After visiting the ER for
gallbladder pain I had an appointment with the surgeon
within days and surgery within a week. I am uninsured
and the surgery was affordable and the staff wonderful.
I do not know what I would have done without them. I
cannot recommend them enough.

February 12, 2007, Alberta, Canada - Living in Canada….I had very few options available to
me. The wait for surgery (in Canada) was six months to a
year…. I felt very uncomfortable and didn’t want to
wait! I was experiencing a lot of discomfort… I enjoy
running and working out….prior to surgery I had to limit
these activities I choose No Insurance Surgery after
researching my options on the Internet…their staff is
very professional Dr. Petersen is knowledgeable and
experienced. My surgery was scheduled within 24 hours of
my examination by Dr. Petersen…..the surgery center was
organized and well staffed…. The Anesthesiologist was
thorough and explained the procedure…. I saw Dr.
Petersen three days after my surgery……I was cleared to
go home. Overall I am pleased with the care I have
received……the price was a good value for the service and
attention I received……I would be happy to refer other
patients to Dr. Petersen.
Patient Profile, Gallstones, Los Angeles, CA - Mr. L. is a 42 year old male musician, in otherwise
excellent health, who had been seen at least six times
in the past year in various California emergency rooms
for severe right upper abdominal pain triggered by
meals. He has had this complaint for ten years.
Radiology studies revealed that he had gallstones and he
was told that he needed his gallbladder removed. With
each visit in the ER he was made comfortable and sent
home because he did not need emergency surgery and
because he was uninsured. Because he was self employed
and made a respectable living he did not qualify for
public assistance. Being self employed and having a
preexisting condition he could not purchase insurance to
cover his condition. He was examined on Wednesday and
scheduled for surgery Friday. Friday morning before
surgery he admitted to having an entertaining night of
gambling the night before. His gallbladder was
successfully removed in a one hour laparoscopic
operation. At surgery he was noted to have a very
diseased gallbladder containing three gallstones nearly
the size of billiard balls. He was given the gallstones
after surgery. He was examined Monday morning in our
office for a post-operative check-up. He was smiling ear
to ear because he had a big dinner out on the town
Sunday night and found that his old pain was gone. On
examination he was found to be in good shape and was
released. His wife drove him back home to Los Angeles
that evening.Read more...
Patient Profile, Gallbladder, Austin, TX - Mrs. W has been suffering from severe right upper
abdominal pain on a daily basis for one year. She has
been in the ER numerous times and diagnosed with
gallbladder disease. She was told that there was nothing
that could be done because she did not require emergency
surgery and because she did not have insurance. She and
her husband live on disability. They have too much to
qualify for public aid , but they cannot afford to buy
insurance. When they asked one hospital the cash
price for gallbladder surgery they were told $30,000.

I think I have phone consultation scheduled from about
2:45 to 3:15 today, I will be by the phone.
Also here is image of my MRI of 2 or 3 weeks ago.
This shows the main problem…but the doctors tell me the
top view also shows some problems.
My Surgeon here was going to charge $10,000 with 50%
off…so $5,000 (easy to pay)
But the larger financial problem was the hospital
wanting to charge $86,000….25% off….so $65,000
(ridiculous)

Scott,
I took your case and MRI directly to Dr. Muir. He will
call you this afternoon.
Sincerely,
Dr.P.

Dr. Peterson.
Thank you for your help.
By phone today, Dr. Muir estimated the whole surgery
would be less than $10,000, (which would be a major
miracle for me and my family)
Even the President our large hospital mentioned that
your Vegas Surgery idea would be a viable option.
Our only real question is the reputation, number of back
surgeries, and success rate for Dr. Muir.
Once we can get past that, I think I would be happy to
travel to Vegas and get things fixed.
Can you help me feel comfortable with Dr. Muir and his
history?
Thanks, respectfully,
Scott

You are in good hands with Dr. Muir. Check my
reputation. I recruited him because he has a excellent
reputation among doctors. I have seen his work and I
would refer my own family to him. He is about my age and
is as experienced in his field as I am in mine. Don't be
fooled by the price. When you pay more you are not
getting more in this case. He charges a fair price and
other doctors overcharge.
Sincerely,
Dr. P.

Thank you for setting up No Insurance Surgery. I would
be in a world of trouble without your help.
I go to church with about 8 doctors and surgeons….and
the president of a large hospital…many of which provided
little help to me without massive charges (about 50 to
100grand)
But your group was actually able to DO something. Which
is a miracle for me.
I will be having surgery this Monday with Dr Muir.

Mr. Allen,
I am glad things are working out for you and thank you
for your kind words about our organization. With your
permission I would like to put these emails on our
website with your identifying information redacted.
Sincerely
Dr.P.
Dr Peterson,
Yes, you can use my note to help your practice…
Yet, just today I got a doctor at my church to do some
remarkable work for me. So I don’t want to discredit
him.
Also, the hospital president just was able to lower the
hospital bill to about 50 grand, (still way too much,
but at least he tried)
So, I have modified my words below to be more accurate
to my evolving story.
You and Dr. Muir are certainly heroes to me and my
family.
