Question:

Complex regional pain syndrome

Answer:

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain state that affects 0.02% of the population. It is triggered by nerve trauma that may or may not have evidence of physical injury. 75% of cases undergo spontaneous resolution. CRPS is mediated by central pain sensitization and in this regard is closely related to persistent chronic hernia mesh pain after mesh explant.
