No. Umbilical hernia belts are dangerous. They apply pressure to the entire abdomen and thereby increase intra-abdominal pressure more than they apply pressure to the hernia. This causes the hernia to grow faster and increases the risk of strangulation.
Groin supports only apply pressure to the groin and do not increase intra-abdominal pressure. Groin supports may help some patients who have to wait before they can get their hernia repaired. But it is not a substitute for corrective surgery.
