Helping hand

I have great anxiety about my upcoming surgery.

"What should I do?"

A little anxiety is normal.

Dr. Petersen keeps very detailed long term statics on his results and complications. He will explain to you with honesty and authority what the risks are and what the chances of a good outcome are in his hands. If you do not understand he will give you all the time you need to ask him your questions and address your concerns.

Many of his patients come back to him after surgery and say "Dr. Petersen, That was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be". :) Ancitipation of surgery is mostly worse than the reality.

He believes with a fair assessment of the risks and benefits of surgery most patients will be comfortable with their decision and have reasonable expectations. No surgery is without risks and not everybody is cured. For the patients who cannot overcome their fears and doubts Dr. Petersen will cancel the surgery in the kindest possible way.

Paralyzing anxiety is associated with poor out comes in elective and otherwise low risk procedures.
