Pain after mesh hernia repair. No bulge. Surgeon wants to redo and put in more mesh. Good idea?

If the hernia has recurred the right thing to do is to revise the repair. If it has not recurred then going back and putting in more mesh can make things much worse. This is particularly true if one procedure is laparoscopic and the other procedure is an open anterior approach. If your pain is from the mesh this will only make the pain worse. This situation is very difficult to treat because it requires removal of both mesh which nearly destroys the inguinal floor making reconstruction without mesh a challenge. My general advice is do not put in more mesh to treat pain caused by mesh.
