Strangulated hernia?

A strangulated hernia is a hernia that has trapped and then cut off the circulation to intestine inside the hernia. This causes a bowel obstruction, gangrene, intestinal perforation, peritonitis and then death. Hernia patients who experience severe abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting must go to the nearest emergency room and will likely need emergency surgery. It is much safer to repair a hernia before this happend.
