A muscle tear is not a hernia

What is a muscle tear?

A muscle tear is a very painful rupture of part of a muscle. These occur commomly in the thigh muscles and are caused by extreme sports activities. They can occur in any muscle including the abdominal wall. They do not however cause hernias. Hernias are caused by a tear in tissue called fascia.
