Will hernia mesh complicate my autoimmune disease.

I do not know but I have strong suspicion that the answer is yes. I strongly advise any patients with autoimmune disease to never accept a mesh implant, a dental implant, testicular vein metal coil implants or any other implant. Small implants are probably Okay. The body's foreign body reaction is porportional to the weight and surface area of the implant. So small lens implants used in cataract surgery are probably ok. Patients who have ASIA (Autoimmune, autoinflammatory, syndrome inducced by an adjuvant) and mesh pain commonly get better with the removal of the mesh.
